We had tickets for a salute to Ella to benefit the Minority AIDS Project back in Los Angeles on January 10, 1995. We got to see a bunch of great musicians including Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, and many more, but unfortunately Ella's health was already such that she was unable to attend. I was so disappointed. She died on June 15, 1996.
