Spike Lee has a 4-hour documentary on Hurricane Katrina which will debut for two hours on HBO on Aug. 21 at 9 p.m., and the last two hours will be shown on Aug. 22 at 9 p.m. It will also be shown in its entirety at 8 p.m. on Aug. 29, the anniversary of the hurricane.
“When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts” also features one of my favorite trumpeters, Terence Blanchard, who wrote the score as well.
I have a hunch this is going to be riveting. Mark your calendars.
What happened in New Orleans was a criminal act, a tragic backhanded slap to poor, black or politically insignificant people.
