Goodhair Poses a Question

And I have the answer: what an imbecile.
“We’re creating more jobs than any other state in the nation. … Would you rather live in a state like this, or in a state where a man can marry a man?”

David Letterman Is An Idiot

What the fuck indeed.

I come from the George Carlin school of comedy. He could make you feel uneasy about many things and it was often blunt, but it usually led to something enlightening. Not so with Letterman. This was so blatantly crass, I won't even put the video on my blog.

And that's saying something.

I'm proud to say I haven't watched Letterman in over 20 years. And counting.

And I have a personal message for the guy, if he's reading: Grow the fuck up.

The Poor Pityful Patriarchy

Pity da menz. Because dim menz can't be havin' da wimminz all runnin' around abortin' babies and shit not havin' permissions from Da Man, ya know. How dare them bitchez actin' like they own their bods -- Da Man does, ya know! It's right 'cher da BIBLE.

If this asshole had he way, women would need to get permission from the biological father before being allowed to have an abortion.

And what if the woman isn't sure?
In cases where the identity of the father is unknown, women would be required to submit a list of possible fathers. The physician would be forced to conduct a paternity test from the provided list and then seek paternal permission to abort. Claiming to not know the father's identity is not a viable excuse, according to the proposed legislation.

How's that for being worthy of the Asshole of the Day Award?

State Rep. John Adams (R-OH)

I loved Pam's additional commentary:
So otherwise, a rape survivor would need to find her rapist and see if he's willing to sign off on the whole deal. Jesus H. Christ.

Yes, Jesus H. Fucking Christ on a cracker. How in the hell do these pricks get elected to public office?

That is not a rhetorical question.

Mike Masterson: Colossal Asshole Award

Mike Masterson, the opinion editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s Northwest edition, i.e. the most heavily Republican district of the state, got me all wound up this morning with this piece in today's paper.

Ahh, the joys of being a white, heterosexual IDIOT.

I really hope the link works -- it could be subscription only which I have by virtue of piggy-backing on my mother's print copy subscription. In any event, you'll get the gist of it...

By the way, just like Prejean, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Hillary Clinton and nearly 70 percent of my fellow Americans, I, too, am a Christian, one who believes that institution of marriage is between one man and one woman. The people of other major religions believe likewise.

As with most of that vast majority, I also couldn’t care less what consenting adults do in their own bedrooms. But to destroy the holy and sacred institution of marriage based on the behavioral preferences of one group representing a fraction of our population would be a drastic mistake.

The colossal asshole got it all wrong. This is not about what consenting adults (and make note of his use of "consenting") do in their bedrooms; it's about what rights consenting heterosexual adults have in a relationship recognized by the state which non-heterosexual consenting adults do NOT have. And it matters fuck-all whether we are 7/10ths of 1%, or 6%, or 42%. We are tax-paying, hard-working Americans with ethics and moral values as well. And I'm fucking fed the hell up with "opinion editors" and anyone else trotting out these tired old arguments, and using the most insulting phrases like "behavioral preferences" only adds fuel to my fire.

Mr. Masterson, a "behavioral preference" would be, for instance, one in which a man prefers to pee sitting down to avoid splatter. My own "behavioral preferences" include things like having the toilet paper flap on the top vs. the underside, and always squeezing the toothpaste tube from the bottom. But when it comes to fucking in the privacy of my bedroom my sexual orientation, this is not a preference or a behavioral choice. My route is what is natural for me as a gay man.

But wait, Masterson's reasoning gets even more embarrassing for him.

It would be like cracking an egg that, once broken, would open the marriage door to all forms of sexual behaviors and predilections. Try to visualize pedophiles marrying children, a husband with multiple wives, humans marrying animals. Don’t laugh. Once we fallible human animals choose to erase a moral boundary established by a much higher force than convenient political popularity, where can any meaningful lines ever be drawn in our society?

Trust me, I'm not laughing. Yes, try to visualize pedophiles and sex with animals, you sick twisted fuck. Spread that fear to your readership and continue distorting reality to suit your own theocratic jerk-off fantasy.

Apparently at this point in the scribe, he lost sight of a word he used earlier: consenting.

You see, children are not consenting adults; we already have laws in place to prevent pedophiles from marrying children, and without those we'd already have heterosexual pedophiles marrying children. As it stands now, we have a lot of heterosexual pedophiles simply raping children outside the institution of marriage, as opposed to within it. And this has abso-fucking-lutely NOTHING to do with same-sex marriage. And Masterson has got to know this; if he doesn't he has no business being paid to write opinion pieces for a major statewide newspaper; he should be submitting them as a reader to an editor who actually has some common sense.

But it sure works great as as humor piece scare tactic when you have absolutely nothing else to hang your (ass)hat on.

As if this just simply isn't too over-the-top to fathom, he has to toss in the obligatory visual of humans marrying animals. Again, animals can't consent. And seriously, while we're on the subject of "fractions of our population," how many people would go that route, even if it were legal? (It's a rhetorical question, don't answer it. I have no doubt somebody somewhere, probably one or two of his newpaper's subscribers, would give it a whirl.)

And then Masterson continues with the granddaddy of them all: speak out while you still have the basic right, because Carrie Prejean is living proof that we're about to lose that right.
Even a beauty queen with no ax to grind with anyone is not exempt from personal attacks today for simply giving an honest opinion shared by most Americans. Carrie Prejean and her grandfather are right. It is time for everyone who believes in values and freedom to get off their duffs and be counted-while they still can be.

Mr. Masterson, am I included in your definition of "everyone who believes in values and freedom?" Only to a certain extent? We would like to "get off our duffs and be counted." That's the fucking point of our Gay Agenda. Only people such as yourself just keep shitting all over it with your asinine propaganda and fear-mongering.

If I wasn't such a proponent of free speech, I'd be tempted to tell you to shut the fuck up. But I will not take that low road. You go ahead and make a colossal asshole out of yourself in the statewide press as often as you want. Eventually, you will be on the losing end of this battle. Even in Arkansas.

Eggs are gonna get cracked. And there ain't no demons, pedophiles, or animal fuckers lurking within. Just basic civil rights, and that's some scary shit for many people, apparently.

More on Mike Masterson.

The Bouncy Rush Limbaugh

I just have one thing to say to Keith Olbermann and others: make it stop. I'm tired of seeing it. If the point is to generate disgust among liberals, you have succeeded. If you persist, I might be shopping for a new TV soon, if you get my drift.

And for those few of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, I'll do something unfathomable and post a clip here. You can watch it. I sure as hell will not. I really don't want it on my blog.

On 2nd thought, I'm not posting the video, just a link.

What's In a Name?

Here I go again putting myself out on a limb with this story about a store refusing to decorate a cake for a child's birthday. Sounds cruel except that the child's name is Adolf Hitler Campbell. Another story.

But let's get real. The assholes are the parents, not the child. It's rare that I disagree with Keith Olbermann, who covered the story tonight, but it does happen. And he dragged Rachel Maddow into the fray. I see their point but I think they are wrong.

When you go into business, you are in business to serve all people. No doubt they have baked cakes and decorated them for any number of racists, homophobes, bigots, whatever, but it was in a less obvious situation. Refusing to decorate a cake for a child who happens to be named Adolf Hitler Campbell, even if the cake decoration itself was to say only "Adolf Hitler" is unacceptable in my opinion.

Adolf in and of itself is not a bad name. Nor is Hitler. And I'm sure there's been more than one Adolf Hitler on the planet given the preponderance of Germans. And it's not like the parents, assholes though they are, were asking for a cake to celebrate the birthday of Adolf Hitler. His birthday was just two days from mine way back in April. This is a cake for a child who does not yet comprehend the atrocity inflicted upon him by his asshole parents.

Let him have his cake. Give him as much joy as possible in his young years because he will be subjected to hell by the time he's going through school.

Honestly, this hysteria reminds me a bit of the Hussein frenzy surrounding Obama. The difference being that Barack was named prior to Saddam Hussein coming to power. It's just a name. And so is Adolf. And so is Hitler. Deal with it.

The kid is not Adolf Hitler. He is just named after him. He deserves a cake, and more. And Wal-Mart came through for him.

Wow, politics really does make for strange bedfellows. I wish George Carlin was around to pontificate on this story.

What do you think?

More on the Arkansas Adoption Ban

I'm glad to see this getting a lot more exposure for just how mean-spirited the passage of the Arkansas proposition against unmarried couples from adopting can be IS.

Dan Savage, editorial director of The Stranger, a Seattle newsweekly, had an excellent piece in today's New York Times.
That state’s Proposed Initiative Act No. 1, approved by nearly 57 percent of voters last week, bans people who are “cohabitating outside a valid marriage” from serving as foster parents or adopting children. While the measure bans both gay and straight members of cohabitating couples as foster or adoptive parents, the Arkansas Family Council wrote it expressly to thwart “the gay agenda.” Right now, there are 3,700 other children across Arkansas in state custody; 1,000 of them are available for adoption. The overwhelming majority of these children have been abused, neglected or abandoned by their heterosexual parents.

Yes, read that last line again. That one man/one woman combo which the various "family" groups proclaim as being the only way to raise a child. The hypocrisy is astounding.
Even before the law passed, the state estimated that it had only about a quarter of the foster parents it needed. Beginning on Jan. 1, a grandmother in Arkansas cohabitating with her opposite-sex partner because marrying might reduce their pension benefits is barred from taking in her own grandchild; a gay man living with his male partner cannot adopt his deceased sister’s children.

Social conservatives are threatening to roll out Arkansas-style adoption bans in other states. And the timing couldn’t be worse: in tough economic times, the numbers of abused and neglected children in need of foster care rises.

For all the good outcomes in the elections this year there are still plenty which make me seethe with anger.

The Icing on the Political Cake

Not only did we make history on this day last week, we elected the better team to move us forward. And we unearthed some rather ugly facts about the electorate which hails from what I call America's red vein.

Fear of the politician with the unusual name and look did not end with last Tuesday’s vote in this rural red swatch where buck heads and rifles hang on the wall. This corner of the Deep South still resonates with negative feelings about the race of President-elect Barack Obama.

The New York Times provides us with some visual imagery. No offense intended to hunters and fishermen (or is it fisherpeople?) who happen to have supported Obama I'm sure.

The idea of a "waning" South has me as excited as the outcome of the election. And it's about damn time.
The region’s absence from Mr. Obama’s winning formula means it “is becoming distinctly less important,” said Wayne Parent, a political scientist at Louisiana State University. “The South has moved from being the center of the political universe to being an outside player in presidential politics.”

[...]

Alabama, for example, experienced a heavy black turnout and voted slightly more Democratic than in 2004, but the state over all gave 60 percent of its vote to Mr. McCain. (Arkansas, however, doubled the margin of victory it gave to the Republican over 2004.)

[...]

By leaving the mainstream so decisively, the Deep South and Appalachia will no longer be able to dictate that winning Democrats have Southern accents or adhere to conservative policies on issues like welfare and tax policy, experts say.

That could spell the end of the so-called Southern strategy, the doctrine that took shape under President Richard M. Nixon in which national elections were won by co-opting Southern whites on racial issues.

All I can do is applaud and shout, "good riddance" to that negative and racist influence. I do not understand how some of these people even get through the day. What a miserable and pathetic life.
One white woman said she feared that blacks would now become more “aggressive,” while another volunteered that she was bothered by the idea of a black man “over me” in the White House.

How Arkansas Screwed the Children

One thing we're all seeing up close and personal is just how dirty things get when religion gets mixed with politics.

It was true in California with Prop 8 and it is true in the passage of a proposition in Arkansas banning unmarried couples from adopting children or being foster parents. And gee, who are the vast majority of the unmarried couples?

A New York Times article today cites antipathy toward Obama as a major reason the amendment passed by such a majority, despite the fact that 55% of those polled were against it.
The measure, which voters overwhelmingly approved Tuesday and which prevents unmarried cohabitating couples from adopting or fostering children, won strong support from conservatives, exit polls found. The ban affects all unmarried couples but was written with the intent of preventing gay couples from raising children in Arkansas.

Unlike most states, Arkansas shifted to the right politically in this election. Senator John McCain won the state by 20 points compared with President Bush’s nine-point victory in 2004.

How in the bloody hell can a state have antipathy at such a critical moment in our history? I guess the voters were just preoccupied with other matters of importance. Whatever.

I certainly don't think Jesus would approve of the tactics nor the misuse of the church for political purposes.
A survey in October by the University of Arkansas found 55 percent of voters in the state opposed to the ban. But conservatives ratcheted up their lobbying before the election, distributing 350,000 inserts for church bulletins, and the measure passed with nearly 57 percent of the vote.

How very.. um... Taliban. And how very sad for the children.
Arkansas has three times as many children who need homes as people willing to adopt or foster them, said Brett Kincaid, campaign director for Arkansas Families First, a coalition of groups opposing the ban.

Religion and politics don't mix. When they do, somebody is gonna get fucked without any lovin' as my grandma used to say. I'm paraphrasing just a bit. Better to leave the children without homes than to have them living with the dirty godless faggots.

Gee, Thanks California!

My fears materialized. California voters opted via Prop 2 to provide more rights to farm animals (which I support, by the way) passed by 63% to 37% while voting 52% to 48% for Prop 8 which deals a blow to same sex couples who didn't tie the knot prior to November 5.

It's interesting how the Mormon Church, and all those they influenced, can be so against the recognition of same sex relationships and yet take pleasure in screwing us in the ass. But let's look at the bright side: we can't get married in California now, but the eggs may be a hell of a lot healthier and the farm animals will be happier.

Tyrants Who Want Their Country Back

txrad was the lucky recipient of an email blast from his sister. Contrary to the normal courtesy of forwarding it on to everyone you know, he just forwarded it to me and that's where it'll die as far as we're concerned.

It begins with this picture -- the typical red-blooded American. You know, white and male. Friendly, jovial, and happy... as long as you agree with his views. And if you don't, the American thing to do is pack up your stuff and get your sorry ass on the next plane with a one-way ticket bound for some backwater Socialist state like Sweden. Whoever wrote this harangue and others like it are clearly living in fear of something.

Here's the entire piece for your enjoyment. The large bold font of the first line is how the entire diatribe was delivered. I can only hope the font size was chosen because the vast majority who hold these opinions are old and have bad vision. But I have my doubts.

I Am the Liberal-Progressives Worst Nightmare. I am an American.

• I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some Liberal governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican!

• I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way!

• I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.

• I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything.

• I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English.

• I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to.

• My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and whoever canceled Jerry Springer.

• I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it.

• I've never owned a slave, or was a slave, I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already.

• I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA.

• If you were born here and don't like it you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you.

• I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one?

• I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you're running from them..

• I also think they have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.

• And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license. I think it's good... And I'm proud that 'God' is printed on my money.

• I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.

• I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause.

• I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.

• I believe 'illegal' is illegal no matter what the lawyers think.

• I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA!

• If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a BAD American.

• If you are a BAD American too, please forward this to everyone you know.

• We want our country back!

And then it finishes with the obligatory American flag followed by “We need God back in our country.”

I could turn this into a lengthy post with all my opinions rolled into one big rant. But is it worth it? No.

I will say this. However you want to define God, or not, my definition of God has never left our country. God is in every atomic particle of everything that exists on this planet and beyond. The bark of a tree, the air, the water, the nuclear waste sludge piles, the dinosaur shit you pump into your SUV, and the cat poop I need to scoop out of my litter boxes. God is in the air you exhale as you speak English, German, Portuguese, Samoan, or Spanish.

“God” does not need to be printed on money because God exists in the paper fibers of the currency. God is distributed evenly throughout the world and that is impossible to disturb.

Apparently, I am an American’s worst nightmare. I am a free-thinking, intelligent, liberal-progressive. And you narrow-minded fascist bigots who compose crap like this should know I will fight with every ounce of my being against this tyranny of the so-called majority whose objective is silencing dissent and clamping down on a broad swath of freedoms.

You can get a big AMEN from me on that one.

"Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God." -- Thomas Jefferson

And would someone please tell me what the French call a Big-Mac? Last time I was at a McDonald's in France it was called le big-mac.

I'm NOT the LEAST Bit Gay...

I just love having sex with gay guys.

That seems to be the prevailing attitude among many men in Mexico.
“I have never felt that I am homosexual because I have never let them make love to me,” said Eduardo, reflecting an oft-heard sentiment in Mexico and using language that suggested the possibility of other partners. “It’s the opposite. I penetrate. I have never liked it being done to me.” Still, he did not want to be identified further because of fear he might be stigmatized as a homosexual.

Oh, I'm glad we got that cleared up. As long as you just fuck men or let them suck you, then you're still completely 100% straight.

I'm not bashing Mexicans in denial. This is obviously common in any culture where machismo is ingrained which unfortunately includes most of the world. But it will be nice when we, as a group of humans, can move beyond this mentality. Above all else, it equates homosexuals as lesser beings who can still serve the purpose of allowing a straight macho man to empty his load into us for pleasure while he remains in a higher social strata.

Very convenient.

My favorite character from the New York Times article is the 69-year-old married man who is having an affair with a younger transwoman.
He arranges his visits to Yessica on one of two cellphones he carries to keep his life in order: one is for his wife, who lets out occasional homophobic comments and who he says would leave him in a minute if she discovered what was going on; the other is for his occasional lover, who is physically male but feels trapped inside a body that is not his own.

[...]

As for his sexual orientation, the older man with the secret life declared, “I’m not the least bit gay.”

His wife might disagree.

At Least Ozzie is Off the Hook

Neither Black Sabbath nor Judas Priest have to take the heat for the actions of the Knoxville bigot who shot up a church. There was nothing subliminal at work here.
A man who the police say entered a Unitarian Universalist church in Knoxville, Tenn., on Sunday and shot eight people, killing two, was motivated by a hatred for liberals and gay people, Chief Sterling P. Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department said Monday.

Why aren't Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, and Bill O being questioned?

Latrobe, PA: Hotbed of Important Political Issues

Every so often, there will be an article in the paper with a political focus of a town or region in the US along with viewpoints of local residents. That's always a guaranteed joyride along the bumpy road of American stupidity.

With the Pennsylvania primary coming in just over 2 weeks, we get to wallow in a New York Times piece today with quotes from the intelligentsia of Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Latrobe is a former steel city and ex-home of Rolling Rock beer prior to its acquisition by a larger beer conglomerate which moved all operations to Newark, NJ, resulting in the loss of good-paying jobs in the Latrobe area. But there are far more important issues on the minds of the townsfolk.
Ask whom she might vote for in the coming presidential primary election and Nash McCabe, 52, seems almost relieved to be able to unpack the dossier she has been collecting in her head.

It is not about whom she likes, but more a bill of particulars about why she cannot vote for Senator Barack Obama of Illinois.

“How can I vote for a president who won’t wear a flag pin?” Mrs. McCabe, a recently unemployed clerk typist, said in a booth at the Valley Dairy luncheonette in this quiet, small city in western Pennsylvania.

[...]

“I watch him on TV,” Mrs. McCabe said. “I keep looking for that lapel pin.”

Never mind that our economy is collapsing; you just keep on looking for that lapel pin because God knows that is the true measure of the best man or woman to lead this nation.
Asked the same question this week at a sports bar, Bob Stano, an engineer and a hunter, cradled his chin for a long minute.

“I really do like Barack Obama,” Mr. Stano said, mentioning Mr. Obama before anyone else. “Except for his politics, he seems like a good thing for the country.”

His "politics" happens to be centered on the 2nd amendment in Mr. Stano's mind. Yep, the one about guns. Because if we're going to shred the constitution, all the other amendments are disposable except THAT one.
“I don’t say this because he’s black, but the guy just seems arrogant to me, the way he expects things to go his way,” said Harry Brobst, a truck driver who had never registered to vote until this year.

Excuse me? Arrogant? Is this the same level of arrogance which led us into a war in Iraq? And what about Hillary? Oh, no arrogance there!

Arrogance isn't Hillary's problem though; it's her.. {ahem}.. emotion.
Deb Friedline, an insurance agent here, said Mrs. Clinton was too likely to make decisions based on emotion, but when asked if that was because the senator is a woman, Ms. Friedline said, “No, I honestly don’t think of her as a woman.”

Anyhow, it's so refreshing that Latrobe, a city where the residents are 99% white, isn't showing signs of racism.
Gail Delsordo, who said she would vote for Mr. McCain, added: “I don’t see Obama as a ‘color,’ but I do think he needs to get away from mimicking Dr. Martin Luther King. I’m not degrading Dr. King. I liked what he stood for, and it’s a shame what happened to him. But Obama needs to be his own person.”

I am 1,456 miles from Latrobe but somehow I can still smell bullshit. What an extraordinary olfaction I have.
“When I worked in the steel mill, there were always a few guys who were black,” Robert Bradish said. “But you wouldn’t even know they were black, we got along so well.”

But back to that ex-brewery, home of Rolling Rock:
A new company came in that employs fewer people, mostly at lower wages.

“I’m making $5 an hour less than I did before,” said Rick Musick, who parked his truck outside the brewery just before the 5 p.m. shift.

Like almost everyone interviewed in Latrobe, Mr. Musick said he was worried about the economy, health care and the price of gasoline.

He said he did not “know what to make of Obama.” Mr. Musick said he had liked the senator but then decided that he did not “for a bunch of reasons.”

“It’s not about race,” he added. “It’s about a feeling I have.”

I have a feeling as well. Most of the people interviewed for this article are idiots with terribly misplaced priorities.

Ya'll have fun on April 22 and remember: it's all about God, Guns, Flags, and Feelings. All our other problems will self-correct over time.

Blaming The Victim: The Jamaican Version

Bloody buggery bollocks! What is up with these mobs in Jamaica terrorizing the gay community? Hopefully the Jamaican tourism board will try and knock some sense into the residents of that island.

I have never traveled in the Caribbean but it has long been one of my destinations of choice. Unfortunately the news coming out of the region in the past several years hasn't exactly been encouraging to the queer community. It may be a long while, if ever, before I feel comfortable going to Jamaica and rolling up a big fat one.
One night last month, Andre and some friends were finishing dinner when a mob showed up at the front gate. Yelling antigay slurs and waving machetes, sticks and knives, 15 to 20 men kicked in the front door of the home he and his friends had rented and set upon them.

[...]

Disapproval of gays is an entrenched part of island life, rooted, Jamaicans say, in the country’s Christian tradition. The Bible condemns homosexuality, they say. But critics say islanders are selective in the verses they cite, and the rage at gay sex contrasts sharply with Jamaicans’ embrace of casual sex among heterosexuals, which is considered part of the Caribbean way.

While some other Caribbean tourist destinations have made a point of marketing to gay travelers, Jamaica has notably not joined the trend.

The double standard on the island is reflected in the antigay lyrics of Jamaican dance hall music, the headlines of more hyperventilating tabloids — “homo” is the term most often used — and the fact that homosexuality remains illegal here, with the specific crime called “buggery.”

A nice start would be to remove the illegality of homosexuality. Sadly, even that would be a very small step in what may be a long road of education and overcoming this entrenched religious-based homophobia and hatred. And don't expect the police to provide protection.
A couple of weeks back, a local tabloid, The Jamaica Star, ran a screaming headline when a local police officer, disturbed by the attack on the dinner party guests, decided to disclose his sexual orientation to the paper. He said he had been harassed regularly by his colleagues because he is gay. He said the police did not take violence against gays seriously.

[...]

Mr. Hayden, who has since taken leave from the force, is in hiding out of fear that his colleagues might kill him.

Even a funeral was disrupted when an angry mob attacked a church during a service for a gay businessman. We're talking Fred Phelps-style hatred here.

Of course there is an easy solution for this problem. If WE would just stop acting so gay, or better, heal ourselves, the violence would stop.
The country’s public defender, Earl Witter, later condemned the violence at the funeral, but he also reinforced the common view that if only gays would be less flamboyant, there would be less violence against them. Speaking to the Mandeville Rotary Club last April, he urged Jamaica’s gays to avoid flaunting their sexual orientation.

The article concludes with a quote from a pastor who is working with a gay man to overcome his homosexuality. The pastor doesn't want his name used in the article out of fears of being attacked for "protecting" the gay man he is trying to heal of this "demonic thing."

The website VisitJamaica.com makes it sound like a pretty nice place. Notice the tagline: "No Wonder Hearts Beat Faster in Jamaica."

Yeah, when you are gay and running for your life from a mob with machetes, I suspect hearts beat plenty fast. That's not my idea of a vacation.

Obama/Edwards '08?

I keep fantasizing about my dream ticket. txrad predicted last year we would have a Clinton/Edwards ticket and I would certainly have gone for that. But a Edwards/Clinton ticket would be far more palatable.

Now that we in entering a right-wing freak-out mode over the possibility of a Osama bin Laden Saddam Hussein Barack Obama nomination, complete with email smears circulating and other negative tactics being put into play, I'm having second third fourth thoughts.

My brother forwarded me an email he received. It's one of those nasty chain e-mails intended to inject fear and prejudice, and basically smear the shit of out the most-feared candidate. And you guessed it, it's directed squarely at that half-white guy from Illinois.

OBAMA'S BACKGROUND CHECK !!!!!!
If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to
all your contacts...this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us
here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and
share it.

If I were the praying type, I'd pray for these stupid assholes to seek mental health counseling, which is a far nicer thing to say than what I first typed and then deleted because it would be cruel to inflict my gut-desires on their inbred offspring. It's a damn good thing they have the Muslim issue to rail against, otherwise they'd have to resort to just plain old racism. And that's soooo ... 2007.

Who is Barack Obama?
Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu , Hawaii , to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel , Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHIEST from Wichita, Kansas. Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.? When Obama was! 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia . Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta . He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school."

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy..

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!

Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country?...... NOT ME!!!

Yes, please forward to everyone you know. Because we need to know who the stupid pricks are. Personally, this is all it would take to strike a name from my list of "friends."

I was going to highlight all the keywords in red, but since the author of this asshattery put those in CAPS, it saves me some time.

These nutbags are obsessed with Obama's middle name being Hussein, and they use it as often as possible in their warped craving to cast Obama as a {ahem} dark demon. Christ, I wish the Republican nominee's middle name would be Hinckley. Because it's the same issue: irfuckingrelevant.

It's gotten to the point where I almost prefer a nominee on the Democratic side who is going to cause the biggest meltdown of the lunatic fringe whackjobs who circulate this bullshit. Perhaps they would suffer mental breakdowns rendering them incapable of thinking (they seem to have surpassed that level already), speaking or writing. That would also be a much-needed positive change for the country.

It's OK; I have no particular love for the NBA either

This is blunt. What's the big deal with people? I don't go around saying "I HATE heterosexuals."

Press 1 For Ignorant Bigotry

Bill Balsamico is quite a guy. Not sure I'd ever want to eat in his restaurant. On the contrary, aside from the inevitable indigestion, this is the kind of shit that gives America a bad name.
Mr. Balsamico, the grandson of an Italian immigrant, describes himself as an open-minded man who uses obscenities and ethnic slurs to make his messages memorable. “As far as offending somebody, I really don’t care,” he says. “That’s just the way I am.”

Open-minded? Wow. That's stretching things a bit. Thanks to Fox News, his mind is so open I guess it all spilled out somewhere along the way.

Or press 6 to stop Italian immigrants from coming over here to spawn bigots. Sweet Jesus, this country must be filled with crazies. Obviously some folks in the area are supporting his restaurant and apparently business is brisk on his website with sales of bigotwear.

Here's another sampling for your amusement.

Visit his restaurant site, Casa D’Ice, for more if you haven't seen enough already. As for me, I have the sudden need to cleanse my palette:
